January 2008: SPL appoints new chairman
SPL are pleased to announce that Giles Chipperfield has joined SPL as Chairman. Giles, formerly Chief Information Officer for Coventry Building Society, has over 20 years of experience in the Banking & Finance sector. Carl Swale, Managing Director of SPL says ‘We are delighted to welcome Giles to our team. Giles brings a wealth of experience and will widen the focus of our card payments initiatives’.
June 2007: SPL signs contract with Dunfermline Building Society
SPL has signed a contract with Dunfermline Building Society to provide consultancy services for their ATM channel.

February 2007: MatchPoint 1.5 released
SPL has released version 1.5 of their MatchPoint product. This new release is PCI compliant and offers new functionality to support automatic Visa charge-back and representment processing, as well as an enhanced search engine and data export capabilities.
May 2006: SPL opens Customer Services Centre
SPL has opened a new office to provide customer support services. The office, located in Keighley, West Yorkshire, is manned from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on normal working days and was opened on 8th May.
November 2005: SPL helps Coventry Building Society to launch Visa debit card
SPL is providing project management and system integration services to help Coventry Building Society launch their new Visa debit card using ACI open payment processing technology. The Society’s customers will be able to use their Visa debit cards for POS and ATM transactions in the UK and abroad. Coventry Building Society is one of the few Societies to offer a full Chip and PIN dual badged LINK and Visa card to provide maximum flexibility for customers and security against fraud.
November 2005: Coventry Building Society to install SPL’s MatchPoint product
Coventry Building Society will use MatchPoint from SPL to handle Visa Base I/Base II back-end processing for their new Visa debit card programme. MatchPoint processes Base II clearing files and matches transactions to Base I authorisations from an on-line payment system and outputs posting files for processing by a host system. MatchPoint’s enquiry engine provides easy access to full transaction history, Visa reporting totals, settlement details and dispute management. MatchPoint is fully configurable and able to run in an open environment.
November 2004: Coventry Building Society launches Mobile Phone Top-Up Service
Following the full migration of the Society's card authorisation and transaction switching to S2 Systems' OpeN/2 platform in June, Coventry Building Society has now launched a service to enable their cardholders and other LINK members to top up a mobile phone at any Coventry Building Society ATM. SPL managed both the migration to OpeN/2 and the project to provide the new top-up service. As an S2 Qualified Service Provider (QSP), SPL now provides level one 24 hour support for OpeN/2 systems at the Society.
May 2004: Coventry Building Society completes ATM roll-out
Coventry Building Society has completed a three month roll-out of their ATM estate to the new OpeN/2 platform. The ATMs are driven by S2’s OpeN/2 product linked to S2’s UM20 authorisation software. SPL’s role was to manage the integration of the project. The next phase, due for completion at the end of June this year, is for UM20 to be “switched off” and for OpeN/2 to provide all authorisation and transaction switching with a connection to the LINK network. SPL are also project managing this phase and will provide first line support when the system is live.
November 2003: S2 and SPL in partnership to install OpeN/2® at Coventry Building Society
S2 Systems, Inc., a global provider of transaction processing, authorization and integrated solutions for the banking, financial, retail and travel sectors, has announced that Coventry Building Society has selected the company’s premier OpeN/2® platform to drive its 54 ATMs.
S2 Systems made the short list with industry partner SPL (Systems People Limited) and edged out its competition based on price/performance value, proven product technology and aggressive delivery capabilities.
SPL currently supports S2’s UM20 authorisation software at Coventry Building Society. Carl Swale, Managing Director of SPL said ‘I believe SPL’s long standing relationship with the Society together with our many years experience of installing and supporting authorization systems were important factors in the Society’s decision to award the contract to our partners, S2 Systems’. Carl Swale will be lead project manager for the implementation of OpeN/2® and thereafter SPL will provide first level support.
